Carlo Di Dio

Mr. Di Dio, Italian born and raised, has over 20 years of combined experience as a dancer and teacher. Mr. Di Dio studied ballet at the Procida Hall Studio, in Procida, Italy, under Giovanna Caldarella and Ugo Ranieri, San Carlo Theater Dance School in Naples, directed by Anna Razzi where he performed in several productions such as Oedipus Rex and Persephone by Andrè Gide, Duke Ellighton Ballet by Roland Petit, Romeo et Juliet by Kenneth Mc Millan, and Adriana Lecouvreur by Arturo Colautti, and lastly at the "Harmony" dance school in Naples, under the Direction of Arnaldo Angelini, where he graduated.
Upon graduation, Mr. Di Dio joined Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sicily, performing in Gino Landi’s Al Cavallino Bianco, Luciano Cannito’s Amarcord, Marcello Angelini’s Giselle, Luciano Cannito’s Carmen, Lucio Dalla’s Tosca and choreography by Luciano Cannito, Luciano Cannito’s Franca Florio Regina di Palermo, Giancarlo Del Monaco’s Mefistofele, I Have Dream directed by Beppe Menegatti with choreography by Luciano Cannito and Michele Merola, Luciano Cannito’s Cassandra, Ricardo Nunèz’s Swan Lake, and Luciano Cannito’s Romeo et Juliet, dancing a pas de deux with the Paris Opera’s Etoile, Eleonora Abbagnato. Carlo also performed in Giuseppe Carbone’s Sheherazade, Alessandra Delle Monache’s Symphonie Fantastique, Renato Greco’s Odysseus, Luc Bouy’s Isole Tersicoree, Ricardo Nunèz’s Die Fladermaus. In July 2007, he was offered placement in the Junior Ballet de l'Ecole Supériere de Danse de Cannes "Rosella Hightower" in France. Mr. Di Dio also toured as a lead dancer in Geoffrey Cauley’s Scenes de Ballet, Keith Ferrone’s Alzatevi e andiamo, Excalibur, Fairy Waters in New York City, USA, Renato Greco’s Odysseus in Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt, and Luciano Cannito’s Carmen in Caltanissetta and Reggio Calabria, Italy.
Upon arriving to the USA, Mr. Di Dio joined the San Diego Ballet as a Principal Dancer then the California Ballet as a Principal Dancer. His repertoire includes An Old Sweet Song; Bach Suite; Cavalier, Snow King, Arabian, and Lead Russian in The Nutcracker; Romeo in Romeo et Juliet; Dracula in Dracula; Ali and Lankedem in Le Corsaire; Van Rothbart, Pas de Trois, and Spanish Lead in Swan Lake, Two Boys in Davis Wayne’s Souvenir; and Four Men in Tony Pimble’s Cinderella. Mr. Di Dio also performed with San Diego Opera in Samson and Delilah and Aida with choreographer Kenneth Von Heidecke, Don Quixote, and was invited as Principal dancer to perform in "Don Quichotte" with the Tulsa Opera. Additionally, Mr. Di Dio won the Award Danza & Danza (Ballet European Magazine) for Best Italian Dancer Abroad, as well as the Riconoscimento al Talento, and Riconoscimento alla Carriera at the Labat Loano Dance Festival in Loano, Italy in 2010 and 2011.
In his career, Mr. Di Dio worked with international dance stars such as Roberto Bolle, Carla Fracci, Yoel Carreno, Yolanda Correa Frias, Leonid Sarafanov, Viviana Durante, Eleonora Abbagnato, Federico Bonelli, Luciana Savignano, Denis Matvienko, Anastasia Matvienko, Cory Stearns, Gennadi Saveliev, Maia Makhateli, Artur Shesterikov, Giuseppe Picone, Alen Bottaini, Fabio Grossi, Ambra Vallo, and many others.
As a dance instructor, Mr. Di Dio is known for his energy, problem solving, passion, adaptability, and emphasis on individual student growth. His students have gone on to place in competitions like the Youth America Grand Prix and have earned spots in BFA programs and top tier dance schools around the world. Mr. Di Dio has been a choreographer, created and directed a boy’s ballet program, and been the front of house manager for various schools. He has also been a guest judge in Italy and the USA.
Furthermore, Mr. Di Dio received his AA in Accounting from Southwestern College, BS in Business Administration-Management from San Diego State University, Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and MBA from Louisiana State University Shreveport. Utilizing his business credentials, Mr. Di Dio has worked for Healthcare and Consulting Companies as a project manager and leader, as well as helped studios with strategy and projections.
